In the Greater Hilton Head Island/Bluffton area of the late 1990s, reliable home service providers were hard to find. We set out to change that.
Marc Bergman noticed that his acquaintances throughout Beaufort County were all telling the same story. They couldn’t get contractors to answer the phone. Sometimes they made appointments, but nobody showed up.
When they did, the process was often complicated.
Home and business owners had to handle a lot more themselves than they had expected.
In response to the high demand for home building, remodeling, and home improvement, Marc and his wife, Mimi, wanted to offer their community more. They saw a way to improve how the business was done.
In 1999, Marc and Mimi founded Island Improvements on the idea that building and remodeling services should be truly turnkey. That means your only responsibility should be communicating with us as your trusted general contracting partner. We take care of the rest. Period.
We are here to help you with everything. We’ll help you with design whether or not you have a clear vision. Our design center offers every product you’ll need for new construction, whole-home remodels and kitchen or bath remodeling projects, in-stock or by special order.
We thoroughly vet every subcontractor who sets foot on your property, and we treat them like part of the family to keep our trusted pool of talent with us. We manage every unexpected problem for you and know from experience how to prevent the rest.
Once you “turn the key,” you can be assured that:
We’ve spent years building a company that fulfills these promises.
A design partner that takes the time to understand your unique needs. A general contractor that takes the weight of your project off your shoulders. A professional service company that stands by all product and service warranties, and a friend you can count on to follow through, time and again, for a lifetime.
That’s Island Improvements. Because that’s the way it should be.
"The whole process went completely smooth, from the contract to design, construction, material selections, and a myriad of other things that can be involved with a project of this size." - Carol Hafner, Indigo Run
